Tiff's first photographs were taken around the age of 8. Inspired by his grandfather who was an inventor and photographer. He grew up in Nebraska and owes much to his Midwest farm upbringing. Tiff attended Brooks institute of Photography and by the age of 23 was shooting professionally, living and working in both NYC and Spain. While in Spain he worked for the countries biggest magazines and department stores, shooting fashion, as well as portraits. During one of his many portrait sittings for Spanish Elle magazine, he formed a close bond with Nacho Duarte, the director of the Spanish National Ballet. He then produced his first documentary portrait series on the bullfighters of Spain. Later going on to produce several separate series on Lakota Sioux Tribe of Wounded Knee reservation. the horse track betters of New York's racing community and other diverse projects such as basketball hoops and the homeless mansions of NYC. In the mid-nineties, Tiff opened a photo studio in NYC's then photo district, called Holding Penn. It wasn't long after opening that his fashion work caught the eye of a nationwide department chain Macy's. They offered him a contract that would begin a 10-year relationship shooting all of Macy's magazine and newspaper advertising as well as their catalogs and billboard advertising. These shoots took Tiff across the globe, from Ireland for a fall fashion book to the Bahamas for a swimsuit Book. He was an integral part in building Macy's flagship fashion studios and their transition from film to digital-not an easy feat.
Tiff Pemberton currently lives in NYC with his fiance, a up and coming jewelry designer and their two chihuahuas, Buddy and Tiger.
